These two ‘floating’ paper panels were assembled by Sara as part of a series of installations by contemporary artists for Burn the Curtain – the Devon (UK)-based Interactive Promenade Theatre Company. Same-sized paper squares were cut out from a range of paper types, including maps and artwork created by workshop participants stitched together and coated in PVA.Both panels – each measuring 2.1m x 1.4m, and viewable from both sides – encouraged ‘promenaders’ to stop and examine detailed hand-drawn and painted observations from flowers and leaves, and to walk around the space, catching glimpses of the natural environment through the cut-out holes.
The Imaginarium of Us panels incorporate sections of collaborative artwork created by members of the local community. During a series of outdoor workshops, Sara facilitated playful experiments printing, painting, and decorating with black and white pastels, elements of nature.
