At Arts Lab, Sara is currently developing a participatory visual arts methodology through workshops, research, and local and international collaborations. Recent highlights include restorative practice training, a programme for senior leaders from across sectors called ‘Something’s Gotta Give’, and taster days at the Rural Peace Hub introducing the integrated approach to new partners in Newcastle, UK, Colombia and South Africa.

See Sara’s latest installation – Peaces of Us – developing themes that also underpin her Begun with Others series. The installation explores material transformation, memory and renewal through the creative reuse of fragments that might otherwise be discarded.

Extending her Begun with Others series, she has also been developing material made in recent year’s participatory workshops in Venice, Rwanda and South Africa.

Through Arts Lab, Sara develops and shares a participatory visual arts methodology integrating artistic enquiry, peacebuilding and restorative practice to strengthen creativity, relationships and community-led change. The evolving programme includes workshops, artist residencies, exhibitions, research and open studio events at the Rural Peace Hub and international partnerships.

Over the past four decades, Sara has designed and led visual arts projects throughout the UK and internationally, working with schools, universities, artists, refugees and displaced people, genocide survivors, people in prison, faith communities and organisations across the arts, education, justice, health and community sectors. These experiences continue to inform her studio practice and the work she develops through Arts Lab.
