BEGUN WITH COMPANY STAFF

All Sorts. Open Door is a single mixed media collage piece on paper created from a large, collaborative floor painting made with staff members of a web design company. Designed as a team building activity, Sara encouraged freedom of expression with large brushes and pots of brightly-coloured paint, participants moving around the piece to music, adding / responding to previously painted marks and motifs.

Back in her studio, Sara began the process of cutting up and rearranging, creating order from the apparent chaos of the original floor piece. Decisions as to where to place the circles and squares to make a harmonious whole, was helped by one of her students. After building up the piece with several more layers of mixed media, the outcome was one finished piece made up of individual sections which stood in isolation as interesting images in their own right.
